Music Video Editing

Before editing, we wrapped up the filming process. We recorded all of the clips that we needed. Now that we have all of the clips, we had to get them onto the computer. Some of the clips were recorded on the camera provided for the school. The other clips were recorded on our phones. To be more exact, the clips recorded on the camera were the ones that were steady and contained a pan or tilt camera motion. The clips recorded on our phones were tracking shots. We also recorded B-roll shots on our phones as well. The B-roll shots consisted of filming the Chic-Fil-A sign. we also recorded the bags of Chic-Fil-A burning on a phone.
The footage that we recorded on the camera was the footage to be imported first. For this, we needed to get a hold of an SD card reader since we weren't at school when editing. Luckily our friend that lives close buy had one we could borrow. So we walked over to his house and got the SD card reader so we could start dumping. Once we got back to the house, we started importing our footage. At first, we imported the footage onto the desktop of the computer. Then we imported the footage into FinalCutPro which is the editing software we used. After uploading the footage on the camera we all sent the footage to our email addresses so that we could download it onto the desktop of the computer. Once we had the footage saved onto the desktop of the computer, we imported it into the editing software. Now that we had all of our footage in the editing software, we looked up our song and downloaded it off the internet and saved it to the desktop. After saving it, we uploaded it to FinalCutPro and we could finally begin editing.
To begin the editing process, we brainstormed a couple of edits we could do in the music video. For example, since the video had to be in between a minute and 5 seconds to a minute and 15 seconds. To do a cut off once we reach our limit. The cut off would look like if an error occurred and it'll show the static screen when you don't have a connection on the TV. Another group member said to make the transitions with the beat changes. Another idea that was proposed was to add visual effects and make the video more visually appealing. Once we wrote down all of our thoughts, we began editing. The best editor of the group edited the video. Once he was finished, my other partner and I watched it to see if anything should be added or taken out. The video turned out perfect on the first try. It was visually appealing and it contained all of our ideas. The only change that was made is that we took out some visual effects. We took out these effects because they didn't make sense in that part of the video. Once we finalized all the changes, we saved the music video to our desktop and turned it in,.
